UK colleges quick to benefit from new eTracker
9th November 2009: 10 UK further education colleges have signed up for the new eTracker system in just three months including NESCOT, Thames Valley University FE Reading, and City of Bath College.
eTracker is an eILP (electronic individual learning platform) that monitors the individual progress of students against their personal targets and presents all the relevant information in one simple place.
It delivers greater efficiencies to colleges – saving time, reducing paperwork and helping teachers to easily manage the mass of data about their students. More importantly, eTracker is helping students to manage their own learning - enabling them to set realistic targets and to monitor their own progress. Such good practice is highly motivational and is at the heart of a more personalised curriculum.
Mark Trinick, Managing Director of VLE said: “As an ex-teacher myself I know the challenges teachers face. I knew there was a gap in the market and a need for a system like eTracker, so its success is in some ways not that surprising. What is surprising is how many colleges still maintain inefficient paper based systems for tracking performance: so much duplicated effort, lost records and labour and time intensive processes in an age of paperless offices. Students live their lives through the internet today, and there’s no reason why their education should be an exception.”
Launched in 2007 by VLE Support, a specialist in building technology solutions for educational institutions, eTracker supports a full range of courses including Further Education, Higher Education, short, full and part-time courses. eTracker now also supports Work Based Learning enabling staff and learners to monitor progress across the whole apprenticeship framework.
Fifteen colleges around the country have signed up to eTracker to date including: Southampton City College John Ruskin College, Leyton Sixth Form College, West Herts College, Blackpool & The Fylde College, Rotheram College, East Berkshire College, Chichester College, Somerset College, Norton Radstock College, and Bromley College,
